As a marathoner and an author, I related to this entire piece. But this part spoke to me the most:

I doubt I’ll reach the zenith of my favorite authors. I won’t have thousands of adoring fans lining up at midnight to buy my bestsellers. But if I’m lucky, I’ll sustain writing as a career for decades to come.

Marathon training taught me to be in it for the long haul. Without it, I doubt I would have had the stamina to get my first book published! So don’t sell yourself short. If you keep writing (and running) a thousand adoring fans might line up at midnight to buy your bestseller. I’ll stand in line for it.
